Ryder Cup Team Challenge Match

From the beginning in 1927, the Ryder Cup matches always lost money until the business side of television figured out that big money could be made from sports. In 1953 the Berks County (PA) Golf Association hosted a challenge match between the Ryder Cup team and a team of challengers to aid the team and the members of the team financially.
