1943 Exhibition and Pro-Am at Torresdale-Frankford Country Club
Proceeds of $10,000 purchased two ambulances for the Red Cross
and helped build a golf course at Valley Forge General Hospital.

Charley Boswell
Charley Boswell played football at the University of Alabama. After that he was playing baseball for the Atlanta Crackers in what was Class A when WWII began and he was drafted and sent to Ft. Benning for officers candidate school. He was blinded in the war and sent to Valley Forge Hospital which specialized in eye problems. He learned to play golf there on the course that the pros and green superintendents had built. Charley went on to win the National Blind Golfers’ Championship 16 times.
